The transformation story

Solid brick, an overgrown lot, a bright house today

The house was solid brick, but the lot was overgrown and the inside was dark and dated, with wood cabinets, old carpet and worn baths. We cleared the yard, painted the house inside and out, and opened up the look of every room with new floors and a bright kitchen. Both baths got new vanities, and the deck and sunroom were cleaned up for the back of the house.

What we did

By room and system

Floors

  • New light wood-look plank flooring in the entry and living room, replacing old carpet and dark tile
  • Light wood floors in the kitchen and dining room

Paint

  • Fresh interior paint throughout
  • Exterior paint, per the scope

Kitchen

  • Cabinets stripped of the cracked vinyl cover and painted white, island included
  • New speckled stone countertops on the counters and island, replacing the old dark tops
  • Tile backsplash
  • Black faucet
  • Hanging pot rack removed, wallpaper removed, new hinges and knobs

Baths

  • Primary bath: new vanity with a stone-look top, new mirror, new sconces, vent fan and flooring, and wallpaper removed
  • Primary bath: the old glass-door shower was replaced with a new one-piece white shower unit
  • Hall bath: new stone-look counter, sink, black faucet, mirror, vanity light and vent fan

Exterior, deck and yard

  • Lot cleared: mowing, shrub removal and trimming, small tree removal and trash removal
  • Deck re-stained, with the built-in benches kept
  • Sunroom emptied and cleaned up
